Back in the college days, early 2000s, myself and a good friend, Coleman, were living in a co-op, avid dumpster divers. We came up with this phrase together and proceeded to stencil the message across the drag as a nod to the freegan lifestyle and living simply. Over the years, the phrase has come to embody this ethos of treading lightly on this earth, tempering our material needs with a more community-oriented mindset. Without being attached to many material things, one might find themselves liberated to create more than they consume, working towards a more vibrant community. As one might wear their heart on their sleeve, wear this message on your back as a reminder to give more of yourself to the world.
