IDEA School Rundberg in Austin, TX

Thanks to SprATX for the amazing opportunity to paint a series of murals for IDEA Rundberg this past summer alongside talented local artists Helena Martin, Mila Sketch, and Emily Ding. We essentially took over the entire school, painting thousands of square feet of surface area, myself personally tackling 4 large walls with portraits of Barack Obama, Sonia Sotomayor, the Chihuahuan Desert landscape, and a typography icon piece for the school mascot the Rundberg Rattlers. I also collaborated with Helena on a massive Mood Meter wall for the students to assess their attitudes and emotions at the beginning of each and every school day. Not to mention, a super-long hallway full of fun and funky geometric shapes, opening up the space and complementing the existing blue and yellow, a huge improvement from the basic drab grey it was before.

The response from students and staff alike was resounding and we were all excited about this new endeavor and completely pleased with the outcome. Hopefully, more IDEA School mural projects will come along next summer!
