Mosaic of community members amongst greenery

What was once a well-known Flint-based Hamady grocery store, had been closed in the early 90s and left mostly vacant since then as jobs and people left, blight followed. With the area in recent years a notorious food desert and wanting to focus on sustainable food initiatives, urban farming, healthy eating, etc, I came up with this vibrant garden-centered composition. Using stills taken at Asbury Urban Farm of lead farmer Kelly at work and Annette watering the plants, along with pictures of Edible Flint partners and volunteers, the wall showcases many angles of fruit, vegetables, and flowers from farm to table, diversity young and old, even featuring local chef Tony Vu @gh0stn0te preparing some local harvest greens on the far right. People become the plants they’re surrounded by, and the plants play an integral part in the people.
