Loretta

Acrylic paint on wall

The Loretta Apartments, Austin, TX

Vibrant mural of a baby longhorn sniffing wildflowers with more longhorns around it and a graphic pattern background

The Loretta is an affordable, multi-family community located in Northwest Austin that was named after Loretta the Longhorn, who was born on the property shortly before Foundation Communities purchased the land for the development. The cattle who once called this land home, including Loretta, now happily reside on a pasture in Leander with their owner.

This mural honors Loretta as a baby calf with her signature triangle marking on her forehead. She’s shown sniffing the vibrant local flora and fauna — and perhaps the viewer as well! She’s surrounded by her fellow longhorns from the pasture in dynamic ripped patterned sections that contrast the natural beauty.
