Fort Worth Public Art: Your Feedback Requested

A Public Art Project Commissioned by the City of Fort Worth for Ciquio Vasquez Park

As part of the 2022 Bond Program, the City of Fort Worth is developing a master plan for the Ciquio Vasquez Park, formerly known as Echo Lake Park (District 11). Currently in Phase I, the master plan includes a Memorial Plaza located in the heart of the park, overlooking the lake, and across from the Worth Heights Community Center along Cole Street. Recognized as a high-traffic area, this location was identified as a significant place for public art in the Fort Worth Public Art Plan for the 2022 Annual Work Plan.

The design concept honors the legacy of the park’s namesake Ciquio Vasquez and the diverse community of Worth Heights, inspired by Mexican serapes and African Kente cloths majestically draped over a monumental concrete wall cradling the overlook to Echo Lake. The mosaic blanket spreads onto the ground, welcoming people into the space and engaging the community for generations to come.

Free Community Engagement: Coaster Mosaics!

Saturday, December 14 from 11 am – 2 pm at the Worth Heights Community Center

Get into the holiday spirit and create a mosaic coaster! Coasters take just 5-30 minutes to complete, and we’ll also be giving away take-home mosaic kits! Plus, share ideas and sketches for the public artwork, meet the artist, and chat with Fort Worth public art staff about projects all over town.

This community engagement popup coincides with Worth Heights Community Center’s Breakfast with Santa event.

Help us inspire custom tile workshops!
