We Won the Circular Showcase!

The Mosaic Workshop accepts the cash prize at the Circular Austin Showcase from Maddie Morgan and the judging panel.

I’m so proud to announce my organization, The Mosaic Workshop, recently won the City of Austin’s Circular Showcase for our process of repurposing and recycling hundreds of pounds of material into long-lasting community murals. We showcased monumental collaborative projects like Ana Sisnett and The Heartbeat of Austin, and projects that diverted hundreds of pounds of tile from the landfill like Reflections and Roosevelt “Grey Ghost” Williams.

Myself and studio manager Zoe Axelrod pitched our model against four other circular businesses in Austin — Black Lives Veggies, Heron, Shop Slow, and Wanderlust Wine Co. Then, a panel of judges scored everyone’s pitches based on business viability, fundability, circular economy/zero waste impact, economic impact and local job creation.

I’m so grateful to my team and everyone who came out to the event. I’m thrilled all of our hard work is paying off and the City recognizes our impact on the East Austin community. These murals are so transformative, and I can’t wait to make another mosaic with this generous funding!
