This detail of the original Transitions mosaic mural is abstracted through digital processing, creating a contemporary design evocative of watercolor paintings.

This detail not only stands as a unique artwork but also brings attention to a deeper connection and context of the original larger-scale mosaic located within the lobby space of 1121 Red River at Symphony Square.

Inspired by Waller Creek, the ephemeral flow of the original artwork is expressed through hand-painted porcelain and other mosaic materials such as Italian marble, Spanish stone, patterned tiles from Morocco and India, Mexican Talavera, and local ephemera collected from across the globe. Interspersed textured tiles create meaningful “moments,” highlighting local Austin iconography and history.
