Mural of vegetables and nature for Fresh Marketplace

I was commissioned by the local New Wilmington town council on behalf of the Farmer's Market to decorate the five bay doors and the east side of the gabled warehouse with imagery of the area’s flora, fauna, culture, history, and goods commonly sold at the market. After painting a local barn in a nearby town the year before, I was recommended as the perfect candidate to paint the naturalistic, colorful, and inspiring scenes with a relatively small budget available. I took photos of the area and spoke with local people about what should be involved in the design of the murals and learned a great deal about the contemporary Amish culture and famous landmarks and developed the design in a week and painted it on-site in just five days.

The gabled end central area in the sky was purposefully left blank as the market had plans to eventually install a metal sign. The produce and flowers shown are all grown in the area and sold seasonally at the market. The lower portion shows crops still growing with a cross-section of underground as a fun and educational aspect of the design for younger marketgoers.
